Coco Chanel, Was a fashion designer. Coco Chanel was born August ninetieth eighteen eighty-three. Coco chanel was born in Saumur, France. Coco is famous for her designs, trademark suits and her ‘ Little black dress”. Channel was an orphan which means she was raised in a orphanage where she was taught how to sew.  Coco chanel was a singer before becoming a designer. Coco opened her first clothes shop in nineteen-ten. Ten years later in nineteen-twenty Coco Chanel launched her very first perfume. 

Which eventually along the timeline came Coco introducing and releasing the “ Little black dress” along with the chanel suit.  Throughout her time designing clothes Chanel wanted to make clothes that would be stylish but yet comfortable for women and teenagers to wear. Coco created timeless designs that are still to this day popular. She was known for her simple yet sophisticated outfits. Coco paired her outfits with accessories such as pearls, lots of pearls.

 One  of Coco Chanel’s quotes we’re “ Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury”. When Coco was young her mother passed away and her father put her in a orphanage because he was a peddler. The nuns that raised coco taught her how to sew. Chanel got her nickname “Coco” when she was a singer. When Coco was a singer she used to perform in clubs where her fans gave her the nickname  “Coco” that stuck. Some people believe that the name “ Coco” comes from the word cocotte. 

So Coco was just a shortened version of of cocotte. Cocotte is a french word that means “ kept women”. When Chanel was a young adult around in her twenties she became more active with Etienne Balsan, Who offered to help kickstart her career. Chanel accepted the offer and started her career in Paris, after her career took off Chanel left Etienne Balsan for one of his wealthier friends. She soon met Arthur Capel. 

These two men were considered Instrumental in Chanel’s   very first fashion venture. Now that Chanel had her own store open she started selling accessories such as hats jewelry, hats etc. The first perfume Chanel launched was the “ Chanel No. 5” people called it the  unforgettable accessory of fashion. Chanel’s Most popular outfits were ” Little Black dress” and the “ Chanel Suit”. The ‘Chanel suit” was A well fitted skirt and collarless jacket with nice button design on the front along with a few pockets to add to the design.

Chanel was all about emphasizing comfort while at the same time still be fashionable. Chanel’s “Little black dress”  was a nice sleeveless dress that was knee length. Usually the dress was paired with a nice chic pair of elbow gloves. Chanel’s “Little black dress” was of course worn with her gorgeous set of her pearls. The finishing touch for the outfit was  a nice black glossy pair of one-inch heels. Chanel also found love in the 1920’s. Where she met the wealthy “Duke” of Westminster. 

They met on his yacht in the early 1920’s. Their relationship lasted a very long time. They had even got engaged ! Sadly Chanel moved on a decided he was not the one. During the 1930’s there was a international economic depression  which therefore caused Chanel to shut down her business. She closed down all her shop’s and fired all her worker’s. So with chanel being out of work she joined the German military. She soon met a German military officer, Hans Gunther von Dincklage.

 When the war ended, Coco questioned her  relationship with Hans Gunther von Dincklage. She soon found herself in legal drama for having relationship with a nazi officer. The people found that chanel was betraying her country considering they were currently at war with Germany. Chanel did not get charged but she did have to deal with the public’s opinion. When Coco was 70 she returned to the fashion lifestyle . 

Chanel died on 01/10/71 at her home. Chanel died over natural causes.She was never married.  After few years after her death, Karl Lagerfeld took over her company.
