Childish Gambino: This is america, I have heard this song before, it’s a banger lmao. I’m glad Professor Harmon choose it because it’s really hype. I have never seen the music video though it is dope though I must say . This song is catchy too just makes me want to get up and dance like the beat goes too hard. Gambino had great dance moves in the video but I like how he included american history into the video and lyrics as well like his lyrics wasn’t just words to put on a track if you really listen it makes sense. I would like to know why he felt he had to start the video off with a murder why was he so angry? What was his message behind this music video?
Loss and Dessire: This video begin’s talking about relation to works of art and different views on art are. Visual art is one of many that can display loss and desire. The second video caught my attention because it was a female wrestler who now an guy but she talks about how she was a wrestler in highschool and how it was a difficult sport that no one really talks about but she stuck out to me because usually wrestling is a guy sport and she joined no matter the looks people gave her like she stepped out of her comfort zone to express herself freely. She explains why she was attracted to the sport and she liked the way the the others guy’s looked so she figured out deep down she wanted to be like that. Gender is just a way for someone to express themselves according to her and it’s up to them to choose what they want to be, she’s also a photographer she talks about ow when she takes photos the poses they uses aren’t a female pose or and male poses it’s just a view of an artist. She gives background on how she became a photographer and being a jew how it all was living in germany. she expressed desire throughout her photos with death, romance and life. Next was a video about a guy who enjoyed walking and just being outdoors because of the freedom he got from it and the ability to be able to connect with the world. He talks about how once he finishes a project he must move on he can’t sit still. He also explains why he feels that nothing is ever finished you can always keep constructing or deconstructing, nothing is ever perfect in the world. Rules have to be invented, he liked thinking and being able to be physical with his work.
Uptown Freewrite: Usually my morning always start off with the same set schedule, but this morning I had happened to be running late because I was up all night hanging out. Instead of having class in Gateway like we normally do. We were going to be having English class in Uptown Charlotte for a new take on our free writing. So even though I was already running late breakfast still started at eight o’clock, as usual. Classes would follow and start at nine in the morning so we’d all leave the cafe around eight forty five. This morning the Peer Leaders came around earlier than they normally would to round up everyone in the Summer Bridge Program, to leave ten minutes early. Which was a shock to us all because we all had already got to breakfast late. So everyone began to rush to be able to meet outside on time. Finally everyone made it outside so we could head uptown and automatically I had gotten frustrated because I was already being rushed which I don’t like at all and it was extremely hot outside early this morning. The longer we walked the heavier my bookbag had got. Nobody knew how far we were going to be walking everyone just kept saying “oh we’re just going uptown” etcetera. All the blocks we walked looked the same because of the construction and also I’m new around here so I don’t really know my way around here just yet. We finally make it to uptown where everyone is just in a way rude I assume because everyone is just trying to make it to where they need to be on time. Personally I still don’t think that’s a reason to be rude, but we make it to our destination with our Professor and he begins to go over our morning assignment and dismisses us all to go off to complete it.As I walk around Uptown Charlotte to find a seat I notice a few alleys with all kinds of cool graffiti which looked interesting on the walls. I walked down the alley and I ran into a few homeless people towards the end and I was alone so I decided I turn around because it was a quite a few of them and I wasn’t really comfortable being alone with them. There was also a lot of construction and early morning traffic going on. I also noticed there was a lot of people transporting through these new high tech scooters and ubers. I noticed a mall and decided to go in to find more inspiration and escape all of the sticky heat and pointless noise, as I walked towards the mall I bypassed a very loud water fountain that was really annoying because the water kept splashing on me and my phone as I was typing. Finally I get past the annoying waterfall and almost made my way into the mall but it was just a crowd of business people everywhere trying to make it to work or school on time. They were blocking the doorway in a sense you could say because the crowd wasn’t really moving. So I finally got through the crowd and into the mall entrance only to find out it was the ridiculously long Starbucks line that was holding up the crowd at the door. When I walked in I was surrounded by all kinds of food shops and other kinds of stores. I started to feel a little uncomfortable because I’m not used to huge crowds, and even though the mall was packed I began to collect myself to be able to write because I knew I didn’t have a choice. So as I’m wrote I started to feel a little more relaxed as if no one was around. Although, I was feeling extra tired because me and a few friends stayed up extremely later than usually just chilling; listening to music and eating a whole bunch of snacks. I still pushed through to complete the assignment because we were also on a time schedule, as long as it felt like I had been working I finally finished and made my way back to where originally met at to make our way back to Gateway to head to our next class on time.
